Cancer Research Project of Bharatiya Sanskriti Darshan Trust was started in the year 1994 under the guidance of Parampoojya Shri P. K. Sardeshmukh Maharaj. The project is carried out in India, at 3 centers at Pune, Mumbai and Solapur under the able guidance of Prof. Dr. S. P. Sardeshmukh. The project is coordinated by Dr. Arvind Kulkarni
(Ex - HOD, Radiation Oncology Dept., Bombay Hospital, Mumbai; Director, Radiation Oncology Dept., Lady Ratan Tata Medical Center, Cooperage) at Mumbai and Pune centers. A well known onco-surgeon Dr. Shirish Kumthekar is co-ordinating the project at Solapur. More than 4500 patients suffering from various types of cancer at various stages are included in the project. |

Management of Side Effects of Chemotherapy or Radiotherapy with Ayurvedic Treatment |

Conventional treatment available in Modern sciences includes Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy and Surgery, either solitary or in combinations. Beneficial action of chemotherapeutic agents is seen in preventing of cancer cells from multiplying, invading and metastasizing. But at the same time harmful actions are to destroy normal cells, to hamper their multiplication and to produce toxic effects on them especially on the cells of bone marrow and mucus membrane. The side effects makes patient miserable and for the patients with moderate to poor general condition or depressed bone marrow activity, though effective this treatment is not advised on account of side effects.
In our Cancer Research project we have made efforts to evaluate efficacy of
Ayurvedic Medicines in management of side effects of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.
